This page is meant to document the various strains and types of Charm's memetic virus and give an idea as to their creation, virulence, actions on the infected and amounts possible available.
Nikolai produced the original strain of Charm virus (often referred to as Charm Fever) by making modifications to Strangevirus in an attempt to engineer a cure. The efficacy of this cure has never been tested. on Strangevirus itself.
Original strain Charmvirus spreads by touch and causes the infected to immediately have the overwhelming desire to eliminate all negative internal emotions. In several documented cases it caused odd conversions into something resembling a BubbleDoll.
Due to the nonconsensual nature of how the virus affects victims, it is considered unCharm and is somewhat rare to find as Nikolai only produced a very small amount of the virus. The original strain was kept in Nikolai's Lab, but during the original two outbreaks anyone might have stolen any sample that missed cleanup.
Developed by the Toymaker engineer Gilgilo under outside instruction, strains 1-8 are increasingly complex modifications of the original strain. Physically they look exactly like the original strain, an opaque pink gooey substance almost indistinguishable from bubblegum. To current knowledge, none of these strains have been tested on a living subject. The only known samples of these strains are possessed by System.
Strain nine is the final product of Gilgilo's research. The virus is incredibly infectious when injected. The only known sample of this virus is in the possession of System, but Silverrain is suspected of possessing a small quantity as well.
When strain nine is injected in to a sentient it causes the complete internal and external conversion of their body in to rubber Toy materials, essentially turning them in to a Toy version of themselves. This also affects the brain, breaking down structures for complex thought and erasing memories to leave a clean slate for programming.
Rumor has circulated recently that large amounts of Charmvirus' original strain were produced by Gilgilo and loosed in the wilds of Charm. The rumor states that due to the unCharmness of it and the nature of how Charm affects that and those which stay inside the warp for very long has modified this 'wild' version of the virus in to a harmless substance. It is said that this virus strain forms itself in to cute bunny and kitty shapes (though it remains pink) and dances to self-manufactured j-pop frequently. Ingestation of Strain -1 causes a temporary feeling of love, openness and euphoria that can last several hours if the user wishes. This data is unconfirmed.
