Artwar

Rumors have it that there's an active war between the factions for domiance, if a subtle one with the battles being subversions of other minds to ones own standards. The weapons: their own ideas of truth and beauty, sometimes in more direct [bomb] forms, more often quietly inserted into others' thoughts by various methods of propaganda. This conflict, though, seems to often be a not very highly visible element in the Mess. This might very well be due to a relative state of 'live and let live' truce between most of the factions. It might be due to many of the factions not being of such natures that they come into actual conflict. It might just be a remnant of ancient myths about a War between the very Warps themselves.

Or maybe the Artwar is so insidious that few people actually notice it. How many people are living advertisements for their ways of thinking? How thoroughly do those ways permeate the very languages themselves used by them, their displays of culture?

Notoriously visible and flagrant flarings up do happen now and then, though, particularly between certain groups (the Strange Medical Corps and pretty much any Strangevirus hosts). As well, certain characters cause as strong nexuses of 'Artwar'.

Artwar is also used as a general syndrome for propaganda.

Notable characters involved with Artwar

It is additionally rumored that the Artwar is not actually fought between Puzzlebox residents and/or factions, but between pseudo-mystical entities called "players", which are supposedly behind the actions and motivations of a goodly portion of Puzzlebox's population - specifically, many of the movers and shakers of Puzzlebox society.
Fortunately, nobody with any sense to them seriously believes such insanity. Honestly! "Players". How remarkably silly.
Overemphasis? Of course not.
