Charlie

Desc dump

Charlie, originally a rather low-tech biped sumatran tiger currently is living somewhere in the mess as a modulari simulation of a sumatran tiger:

What does a modulari Sumatran tiger look like anyway? In most senses Charlie looks like a regular bipedal tiger, seeming to prefer something that mimics his original form quite closely. Obviously this is quite different from most modulari, who do not have such sentimental attachment to parts, but since Charlie is a convert, he's allowed his special sensibilities.

While mostly his body is difficult to tell from the original, there are seams where the fur does not cover his joints completely, allowing you to see with relative ease where they were meant to come apart and such. Disassembly would reveal that his joints are of the standard interface design for modulari, so he could take whatever attachments suited his fancy if he wished.

Overall, Charlie is gold, orange, black, white with dark rings around his eyes. This is not for lack of sleep, but rather as part of the traditional facial markings of his subspecies. Charlie is small, standing merely 5'4", but is full grown at this size. His build gives him the appearance of being about 145lbs, which can be considered normal for a tiger of this subspecies in morphic form, though it is probably impossible to judge by eye how heavy the internal workings of his modulari body might be. Speaking in a quiet voice, Charlie seems to prefer to express himself with his body rather than his muzzle, his ears and tail reacting to most stimuli. It seems his software hasn't changed much since he was a flesh and blood cat.

While Charlie's true purpose and reasons for having been brought to the Puzzlebox are currently unknown, deeper queries in to his past might reveal some links which explain portions of his story.

Cinfo dump

Background: Charlie comes from a backwater jungle where he was born from the union of an unknown father and a wild and feral quadruped mother. As he grew up, he explored settlements on the edge of the jungle and managed to slip in to society, learning language and enough skills to get himself by. Discovered by a big city academic type, he was taken to more urban areas and studied as a psych experiment which sponsored his going through higher education. How he got here is anyone's guess, he probably got talked in to it by a vixen made of plastic that he thought was magic and had no idea what he was getting himself in to.

Character: Charlie is really a pretty nice, easygoing and fairly gullible guy. With enough loops of twisted logic, you could probably talk him in to anything, or you could simply slip some drugs in to his system and he'd never know the better. While a bit on the socially maladjusted side due to the fact that half his upbringing was by an animal, he still manages to get along fairly well with most beings, though occasionally his bouts of anger or passion or certain types of drugs will cause him to lose all pretenses of being civil and turn him for a time in to what seems like a completely wild tiger. Charlie loves to have fun and meet people, and anything you say that's made up, he'll probably not figure out on his own.

Faction: While occasionally forced in to service for the bubbledoll faction, Charlie is currently unaligned, and for the most part completely unaware of his service to the bubbledoll faction. Recently Charlie has joined with the Modulari, in body at least. He has yet to really take up the particular principles and morals of the mods and seems preoccupied with backups.

HomeWarp: Undecided thus far. Neighborhood is the home of most modulari, but the constant changes associated with a modulari city tend to make Charlie nervous.

Preference: RP or sexual, up for anything fun. Tie, bind, make me a part of an intricate piece of machinery, turn me in to furniture, add tech, subtract it, change my body, make me remote-controlled, whatever sounds good and is fun (though at the end of the day (or week or what have you), I like to be able to be a male tiger once more) :).

TechLevel: What he's got is what is given to him. He adapts well, but has no idea how any of this works. Over the years he's learned what some of the words mean, that's about it. He is aware of how to operate the instantiation system, though he often has difficulty creating things that are above a certain level of technical complexity.

What is Charlie about?

Charlie goes through his life in the Mess considering it all to be an interesting adventure. From the time that he first arrived he has been subjected to extensive body modifications and has had to be restored from backup on a number of occasions. The idea of these restores no longer seems to bother him, though like all beings who developed thinking of themselves as mortal, he reacts in a strongly negative way towards things that might threaten his life. Similarly, he often seems to forget the ease at which modifications made can be reversed, he gets rather caught up in the moment of things. Some of the reasonining for this is not that Charlie isn't sharp or is of significantly less intelligence than others, it is rather that the construction of his brain is geared, at least partially to being wild and feral. It is easy for him to slide in to that state and harder for him to overcome it when in the midst of intense feelings or situations where he feels under pressure.

Charlie's psychology

Charlie, having been raised completely without sentient guidance and finding himself in society where he has to constantly cope and interact with all manner of beings more suited to the world than he is, has developed in to a somewhat needy person interaction-wise. This isn't to say that Charlie is clingy, any tiger worth his salt likes to think of himself as fiercely independent , but rather he is deperately willing to please others in exchange for attention and being made to feel that he 'fits in'. This is almost like what you would expect to see from an army brat or otherwise similarly (frequently) displaced individual with a still-developing emotional personality.

What Charlie does

Charlie comes from a society where hunt or work equals food and living. Though he's realized this is not required here, he never the less seeks out small jobs to do for others so he can feel he is earning his own keep around wherever he is living at the time.

Most likely location

Charlie is a social creature, or he attempts to be one. Frequently he can be found in the park or other places where he thinks social gatherings might occur. Often when he thinks he is alone he strolls through the more quiet ruins of Downwarp, seeming to be fascinated by the decay that occurs there.

Charlie's conversions

Charlie is never aware that he has spent time as a bubbledoll, that time for him is simple missing.

Charlie is currently a wethead modulari, his id box contains biological materials that would have been a brain in his old body.

Charlie is sometimes seen being utilized as art or furniture depending on the kind of mood Amanita or Schizzy are in when they find him. He generally refuses to talk about the time he spends in these configurations, but it is clear he does remember them by his reactions.

Charlie has occasionally been seen dressed as a fetish pony and giving rides to small, light individuals such as sabina.

Charlie has had horrible things done to him at the Charmory by Besax. He doesn't exactly remember what they were, or how many times they have been done, but he has a vaguely alarmed feeling whenever the ferret is about and tends to think maybe he should shy away.
