His hair remains arrayed in pleasant, glittery shades of yellow and lavender, braided into several long plaits that reach to just above the base of his tail. One golden eye and one violet eye ringed by long white eyelashes twinkle out from a broad black band that crosses above his demure, blunt muzzle, something like a raccoon's mask. Speaking of masks, there's one pushed up on his head. It's caprine and doll-like, the top half of a goat skull rendered in smooth, glossy indigo plastic. Spirally horns of glittering orange lexan adorn the mask as well, and the whole affair is fastened to his head with long trailing ties of orange ribbon. He's mostly nude, showing off his sleek feline body and the stripes of black and white that continue down his torso and limbs. A scarf of fuzzy lavender yarn is wrapped around his neck, its ends floating improbably behind him. Opera-length gloves of indigo sheathe his arms, and his hands are tucked into glittery-orange lexan cloven-hooves, making him a bit clumsy. His hands are all but useless. Long legs are also sheathed in indigo stockings, laced up the back and ending in orange-glitter-lexan goat-hooves. A tuft of lavender-and-yellow-mottled pubic fur hides most of its details from all but the most determined of observers. He may have been attracted by rumours of Charm's delights, or by art-warfare committed by the Fey Brigade upon other outBox communities. However, he isn't a Bubble Doll or a member of any of Charm's other factions; he's far too dour and grumpy still. And goodness knows, Cheshire cats just aren't supposed to be dour or grumpy. Lost Smiles, if they're to be found at all, would most likely be found in the Mess, Idoru assumes, and so he's decided to stay a while. |
Idoru has lost his Smile.
And what is a Cheshire cat without his Smile?
Well, miserable, to say the least.
Idoru hails from somewhere outBox, somewhere like Charm but not quite Charm, where bottles of curious liquid are labelled 'Drink Me', and plates of cookies are found in unexpected places, with little cards reading 'Eat Me' nearby. White rabbits appear and disappear at whim, and often somewhere in the distance the cry of "OFF WITH HER HEAD!" is heard.
It is precisely this far-off cry that scared away Idoru's Smile, only at the time it wasn't so far away.
For you see, Idoru had dared to seduce the Queen of Hearts herself, foolishly thinking her an easy mark. And the Queen was quite taken with sweet Idoru and his winning, beguiling grin, and the flutter of his long lashes, and the sleek, just-masculine-enough androgyny of his body.
Oh, but when the time came for Idoru and the Queen to consummate their tittering, flirtatious relationship...
And Idoru removed his clothes...
What a surprise the Queen found there.
"His neck shall match his groin!" declared the furious monarch. "Off with his.. her.. OFF WITH ITS HEAD!!"
And Idoru fled forthwith... but his Smile fled in the opposite direction, and the two have been parted ever since.
