Description

Kalki has a handsome horse body, complimented by a lean human torso situated at the front, topped by a horse's head. From his head flows a pure white mane all the way down to where the waist would be on a humanoid. The matching tail flicks behind his horse rear, often conveying mood. Covering the whole body, his white hair glistens even without a great deal of illumination. On the contrary, his eyes possess a negative reflection, drawing light into blackness.

Crisscrossing his chest and along his horse body is a complex harness of green and orange silk, woven between silver rings. Fine copper wire travels along with the silk, connecting blue gems that glow on his chest, palms, throat, back, and one in the center of his long sloping forehead. In a sheath looped across the back of his upright torso lies a long curved sword. The edges of the sword flicker with a cold internal light.

Something isn't all too solid about Kalki. Maybe it's the shimmering black aura that's always visible in profile mere centimeters off his skin. Or the fact that the gems inset in his harness leave visible trails of pixelated light behind them. The air just seems hazy in his vicinity, distortion without apparent heat. Aside from those visual anomalies, he doesn't make an appreciable impact on his surroundings. Things just rather vanish from his way, reappearing, well, eventually.

A story...

Here's a story. Millienia ago, Kalki was the Avatar of Vishnu who brought about the closing of the Age of Kali Yuga (present day) and rebooted the entire universe into a new Satya Yuga (Golden Age), wherein 'the veil between the material and the transcendent realms became almost see-through, as the illusion of different densities of vibration was dissolved'. Puzzlebox is the universe, and all are living in the Satya Yuga now. Having done his original world-destroying soul-purifying job, the Avatar of Destruction gets to sit around and wait patiently for the world to decline from perfection and reach the Kali Yuga once more. Which of course won't be for at *least* another 1,450,887 years. Damn.

This is one version.

Long ago on some legendary planet called Earth, there lived a computer so vast and complex that it created an entire universe inside its own memory banks. Its creators, in a fit of swollen-head-induced fervor (and perhaps a few tokes), dubbed the now-sentient computer Brahma. This sent the AI into a self-organizing spiral of religious proportions, conforming every little detail of its world to its chosen Hindu philosophy mindset. It created and recreated the universe in cosmic cycles fractally subdivided into smaller units over the course of a 'Day of Brahma'--subjectively cramming 4.32 billion years into 24 hours.

Near the end of one smaller cycle called a 'Yuga', the creators monitoring the project suddenly noticed their world changing around them. The computer was simulating an identical Earth, and had become reality. The end of the age came, and with it the software-diety Kalaki (Time) Avtara, who summarily destroyed and rebooted the universe as he had trillions of times before, but for one thing. This time Brahma had been physically incarnate as the mad-god AI on the doomed Earth. Well, *had* is the important word.

This is another version.

Kalki found himself in a newly rebooted cycle of...*some* universe. He presumes it to be the Satya Yuga, though lately he's been having doubts. And where did the rest of the governing programs go? He's been able to find Vishnu, the Preserver and governing entity of the subsystem, but Shiva and the rest have been rather conspicuously absent.

Kalki is not entirely certain which version is true. At any given time, it's usually both.

Character

Kalki is an Avatar of destruction. Which is a rather lonely job, destroying the impure and saving the good, and then rebooting the universe. He may have done this already so many times he's lost track. The last time, he didn't retire or go where gods go when they're not needed. So he's stuck in Puzzlebox...has been likely since its incarnation. He'll say that was several million wheels ago, but then his memory doesn't really process time in the same discrete manner that most do. He tends to destroy things accidentally, just by being around. Or fooling with his sword, which has a wicked edge to it. He tries to keep it sheathed so as not to cut some Warp in half. Little things vanish around him, but due to the Mess' nature they tend to reinstantiate themselves again.

Kalki is an avatar of Vishnu. Except in this case, Vishnu = Puzzlebox itself. He's a digital representation of the underlying systems inherent in the Mess, presuming they're actually computer-like. Or maybe he came from a different computer. Projection or not, he's still solid only out of necessity.

Kalki has an agreement with Puzzvishlenubox. Anyone (and usually anything) accidentally annihilated will be restored automatically, fairly instantly. No worries of being stuck with any particularly unpleasant backup state, as the backup samples taken of anyone close enough dump into a temporary buffer automatically emptied every few seconds. He doesn't usually have the concentration required to surpress this automatic safeguard, but in extreme cases the buffer might be overpowered.

Kalki is also embedded so deeply into Puzzlebox's subsystem that he know things that often shouldn't be known except by a true Avatar. That is to say, he occasionally might fool with the fourth wall, peer into people's poses of a mind-state and know them, practice extropathy by speaking entirely in poses without opening his mouth, and know names of any character because it's floating right next to them. Oh yes, and of course invade the local infosystems (namely, the Wiki). In short, he's sometimes Meta. Another way to put this is that he sometimes doesn't even have a Fourth Wall. Or a fifth or sixth, even.

Faction

Kalki is a Televisionary. Sssh, it's secret! No, it isn't.

A Log

OOC comments

Kalki supposedly has been around a while. So if anyone wishes to retcon having known him already (after I start playing him, of course), feel free!
