He devoted his life to the greater understanding of a single aspect of Puzzlebox's nature. Puzzlebox's reality is very subjective and changeable to a certain level by a being's will. Reality at large is determined mostly by consensus. Saphire wondered how much other beings could be affected by that subjectcity. Saphire eventually found methods of subtly bending the minds of others, in essence creating highly psychoactive magic. In researching this magic, Saphire performed a large number of experiments on others, and he came to revel in the feeling of power he had over others, as he perfected this art. The more he researched, the madder he became.

Saphire

Saphire is something of a sexual predator, residing in the shadows of Bottomwarp. Shi particularly enjoys seducing powerful beings, and slowly twisting their minds until the point that they willingly throw themselves into the submissive and humiliating lifestyle of a public toy in the depths of Bottom. As a result of this, shi has become known as something of an 'assassin' in the artwars that are waged on Puzzlebox. If you want somebody to disappear for a long time, you simply get Saphire interested in that person. Artwars have been won when the leader of a faction has mysteriously vanished, only to be found years later in Bottomwarp, as an extremely eager sextoy. However, shi is difficult to find, and shi won't go after just anyone. It seems that hir whim is the most important factor that decides whether shi is interested in victimizing a particular being. Even finding hir can be dangerous; sometimes finding hir comdemns you to be hir next prey, depending on hir mood.

However, there is another side to Saphire, which is less known. In the process of becoming so powerful with psychoactive magic and many other types of brainwashing and mind control techniques, shi seems to have become oddly susceptible to such things herself. Her mind is extremely malleable to nearly any kind of technique, be it magical, psychological, or technological. She is so susceptible to mental control that the charm and brainwashing effects of hir own spells can bleed into hir, and when enough of it builds up, hir own magic can convince hirself to become an eager sextoy. When this happens, shi changes hir form to become completely female, and becomes an eager, hyper-submissive slave for anyone who will own her. She always manages to recover from hir own brainwashing, but the process of recovery can take months or years. After she recovers, though, shi resumes her former lifestyle of sexual predator without skipping a beat, far too addicted to the feeling of exerting power over others' minds to quit, even though shi ends up condemning hirself to the same humiliation as hir victims.

Nobody has quite found out about hir weakness to psychological changes through brainwashing or other forms of mind alteration and control, but if someone were to figure it out, they could easily victimize Saphire in much the same way shi does to others, provided they could stand up to Saphire's own mental powers for long enough to subdue hir. However, there's no guarantee shi'd stay psychologically changed forever, due to hir unique understanding of such techniques. Hir mind seems to be much like silly-putty which will suddenly bounce back to its original shape after a time. It is very easy to mold to one's will, but it will always come back.

Background

Saphire was once a high-ranking researcher in the Gamma sector of Upwarp. During his study of psychological control which that sector specializes in, he began to dabble in the idea of magic being used in his field. This is highly unusual for the technologically styled Uppers, but he became obsessed with the idea that one's will could be extended into the mind's of others; the idea was just so beautiful in it's simplicity and efficiency. If such a thing really could work, all this other research would be rendered utterly obsolete.

He devoted his life to the greater understanding of a single aspect of Puzzlebox's nature. Puzzlebox's reality is very subjective and changeable to a certain level by a being's will. Reality at large is determined mostly by consensus. Saphire wondered how much other beings could be affected by that subjectivity. Saphire eventually found methods of subtly bending the minds of others, in essence creating highly psychoactive magic. In researching this magic, Saphire performed a large number of experiments on others, and he came to revel in the feeling of power he had over others, as he perfected this art. The more he researched, the madder he became.

At a certain point, he lost sight of the greater purpose in his research altogether, and his continued experiments in this direction became only a means to fuel his obsession with twisting the minds of others for his own pleasure. This obsession quickly expanded to include sexual hedonism as well, and Saphire came into being. The researcher was gone, and the new being moved to Bottomwarp, where shi finds many victims with which to exercise hir power. The guise of a toy that shi wears is a convenience, to make a subtle psychological statement that shi is not a danger. Most beings do not seem to regard the latex dragoness as a threat, until it is too late.
