Strangemoon

Facts

Strangemoon, a full silver disk fixed in the constantly night sky of Strange has generated more rumors, speculation, and outright misinformation than few other places in the Mess. Observations from Strange, on the rare occasion they're made, reveal some type of development on the surface, a mix of half-burried domes, razor-sharp spires and exterior roads and moonworks. No telescope or detector, though, can see beyond approximately one mile resolution, an feat accomplished by as yet undetermined technology.

Rumors, Innuendo, and Lies

It's been said that Strangemoon runs on these three elements. That may not be strictly true, but they have fueled a cottage industry in speculation about its nature. Theorists agree on little, and reports from the Refugees are often inconsistant if not outright contradictory. It is known that cybernetic life, blending flesh and machines, rules Strangemoon through a number of hives. The exact number is unknown. Some argue eight or sixteen, based on powers of two, while other rightly point out that to be an arbitrary and overly obvious solution. Each hive is run by a being known as a domimatrix, the controlling intelligence within each hive. The levels of sentience within each hive is variable, as all beings, from dumb work drones to apparently fully independant beings have been observed or reported. It is theorized that the exact organizational structure varries based on the esoteric ideologies of each domimatrix. What else those ideologies might contain is as yet unknown, as no direct, formal contact has been established between Strangemoon and the rest of the Mess.

Unask the Question

Q: What keeps Strangemoon in orbit?
A: Mutual desire. Not gravity, but magnetism. Poles straining north, making the barrier between themselves stronger with every erg of force exerted. Lust and denial, feeding one another in an endless loop of feedback.
Q: Rather Victorian.
A: That wasn't a question.
Q: That wasn't an answer.

Known Refugees

On occasion Strangemooners arrive in other parts of the Mess. Whether they're refugees, spies, or simply refuse is unknown.
