Response: Volk are well inside any reasonable definition of Plurals, and evolved that way. Neural languages pushed them right up to the edge of the Terrestrial Singularity while they were still in the bronze age, but the limitations in their naturalistic approach to automation would likely keep them on that edge for a long time, until some chance development flipped a group over to a new level of group intelligence...

Comment: It is rumoured the Volk evolved in a co-existence with another species, whom the Volk used to transport themselves in. This species were the bright yellow beetle-like waterproof fossil-haemovoric beings called the s'Wagen.
