A flicker of jewel-bright, green-gold-blue-purple-pink; a streak of color on the air. Until he pauses, head cocked, shineblack eyes caught by something, and in that hovering moment his form becomes clear: round body, wedge tail, needle beak and blurred sweep of wings -- a hummingbird. He is quite large for a hummingbird but small by most measures, perhaps a quarter of a meter long and twice that in wingspan. His voice is high, with a hint of throaty buzz.
Shimmer finds everything in the world fascinating. 'Curious' isn't quite the word -- 'manic' is closer. Shimmer will try anything once, but few things more than once; there are simply too many new experiences to repeat old ones. That's why Shimmer likes to move fast.

Shimmer, like most birds, has concealed genetalia, but despite his high voice and often childlike behavior, Shimmer is male, and mature. Shimmer likes sex. The scale issue is only a problem if you forget about the length of hummingbird tongues.
Shimmer is very nearly a Bubble Doll, via the gentle, irresistably pleasant, non-Crash method of conversion. He is also halfway a Zip already.
Shimmer is most at home in Charm and Bottom. He also likes the zipways, where he can go very, very fast.
Shimmer has a big sister. Literally. She's a smart-aleck cargo hummingbird named Flare who lives in Charmdown.
