Ushth

What's he look like?

Ushth's head grabs your attention first - a soft, glistening mass of splotchy, elongated, green-grey skull, sporting two huge obsidian orbs just behind a slick, shuffling, writhing mass of tentacles. Occasionally, the ropes of flesh that form a twisted mockery of an expression part just enough for you to glimpse the hint of a sharp, slimy beak underneath the whole mess. His eyes carry no pupils, but you can feel them... wandering over your body, meeting your own gaze.

Further down, the abomination becomes something a little... different. Easily most visible are his hands - frighteningly long, gnarled claws, fit for grasping and subduing prey before a kill. One stretched, glistening finger is adorned with a conspicuous gold ring that gleams as the light casts over it. Colorful, tie-dyed sleeves meet his scrawny arms near the shoulder, a t-shirt shrouding his torso with a strangely festive appeal. Great dragon's wings stretch out though wide slits in the shirtbehind him, their membranes a sickly browning ochre, silently wafting in whatever breeze will carry them; one wing's membrane is pierced to bear another piece of gold jewelry around its wing-finger. A long, off-white, skirt-like sarong covers his legs down to the shin, and below that, his knobbly, blunt feet are sheathed in loose sandals that flop-flop-flop as he walks.

His eyes meet yours, for a disturbing moment, and he winks at you. You swear to yourself that his tentacles smiled at you.

Where'd he come from?

Ushth used to be a wire-repair squid upon a starship with an impronouncable name, a destroyer/conquerer ship in the service of the cruel, sadistic pillagers of a faraway galaxy known as the Masters. Ushth failed to share the fervor of his brethren, and took every excuse he could to refine the ancient art of slacking-off to grand-mastery among the Masters. Unfortunately, when his superiors finally caught up to him, he didn't have the diplomatic skill to talk his way out of his fate - a fate involving an airlock, empty space, and the nearest spatial anomaly along the way to Looting/Raping/Pillaging Target #de184762.

Luckily for Ushth, some holes in space lead to Paradise.

What's he like?

The typical example of a Master squid is a cross between a reserved heartless tyrant, and a bloodthirsty killer. Among their own kind, they are deceitful and Machiavellian to the extreme, silently and stealthily clawing their way up their intricate and draconian social ladder; among enemies, they are brutal and sadistic beasts; even their weapons of war are specifically designed to be painful and frightening to the extreme.

Ushth is not a typical Master. Despite all the factory-line raising and teaching, the cruel social casting, and the constant threat of agonizing death, Ushth figured that his goal in life was to do as little work as was squidly possible, and be as laid-back as his warped mind could handle. Obviously, his efforts (or lack thereof) have paid off - look where he landed! Now, thanks to his untimely 'demise', he can do whatever he wants, whenever he wants, or even do nothing at all - and everybody else is already doing the same, so who would ever want to stop him?

What does he do?

When Ushth does get it into his head to do something, it can take a while to come to fruition... his creative edge has several thick layers of inertia to work through before he actually lifts a claw to the task. But he has shown a definitive interest in the electronics he once maintained in his previous life - a recent birthday gift to Untitled, in the form of a (presumably) highly destructive energy weapon gives some credence to his creativity. What he prefers to put it towards, however, is questionable...

Where do I find him?

Where there's sloth, or friendly people, there's Ushth. He's particularly fond of DownWarp and the Heliquary, where he can find a very lax, do-your-own-thing environment and mellow minds to float around. His presence has occasionally graced TopWarp as well - if merely to disturb its peaceful, noble mood by eating in front of its residents - and very rarely BottomWarp, where he goes to give his prudish nature a sound beating.
