Silver and Cold
A child becoming an adult. A song given life. A melody put into motion. A weapon given volition. A synthesis of all of the above. The heavily cyborged and mostly artificial creature known as Aria is all of these things, and becoming much more. Silver skin, metal given life and motion covers most of her, becoming more and more alive. Discovering life, set to chase, unknown hounds at the heel, what is a Siren to do?
TechnoSiren
Siren: Mythological creature reknown for their enchanting songs, as well as their tendencies to draw sailors to their deaths with those songs.
A technoSiren is a post-violence intelligent weapon enhancement, often fitted to individuals to assist in various endeavors. By coupling subharmonics and variable broadcast memes into the subject's voice, the subject's voice becomes dominating, enchanting, and dangerous. When used for whimsy, subjects have been known to brawl over each other to jump to heed the subject's wishes, driven to give past the point it hurts, far beyond. When used for darker pleasures, entire groups of people have spent decades commiting suicide time and again, driven by the death-urge wish of the offending Siren. Not that there is no defense to this, of course: the memes are hearing dependant, and most circuit four and above individuals have sufficient self awareness to resist the memes successfully. The accompanying emotional drive is much more difficult to process, but a sufficiently self-aware individual will be able to understand the sympatico nature of the enforced empathics, and respond accordingly. (snip) However, a Siren's voice is not simply a weapon. The technoSiren enhancement, when accompanied to a singing voice of sufficient caliber, magnifies the's subjects inherent abilities, allowing them not only to share the music, but the underlying emotional context therein, and in some cases has even allows the subject sufficient vocal capability to use harmonics in two parts, effectively creating multilayered musical duets and beyond, rich in quality beyond the dreams of other artists. Aria (or, how not to cause an arms race in public simply by opening your mouth)
A slim humanoid, with silver skin and skeleton, responsive to the slightest thoughts. Perhaps the most defining characteristic is the lack of defining characteristics, as the skin is usually blank, though it has been known to be capable of colorshifting and texture adaptation, pliable as flesh or steel, even able to adapt itself to the appearance of fur. It covers her, what can be seen, from neck to foot to wing, and perhaps even to her head, which is encased in a featureless obsidian mask.
- The mask is worn for politeness' sake, as her voice, unaugmented, is carried through the speakers at either cheek, buzzing as an insurance to their unaugmented and uncomplicated nature. As there are no visual sensors or audio sensors, it's a wonder she can see or hear, but she seems to do so fine.
- From her back are a pair of platinum wings, each with feathers so lifelike that one would swear they grew from the wings themselves, not made.
Interaction
Various people have been both curious and helpful to her in her
quest.
- Heath has been useful, both as the person who helped her to get her quest started, and as an emotional support on the way so far. Sadly, as he dived into her hardware unprotected, unaware of the risk, he's been infected with memework to assist her in her endeavors (Not that this affects much, excepting to break down barriers). Still, should Aria become aware of the infection, she may be stricken with confusion once again.
- Induction-Coilhas shown her around Downwarp, and while he can't get the most of her music (lacking negative emotional context to begin with, some of her music makes no sense to him), she still appreciates him, and for her, that's enough.
- Sumire is immune to her voice. This pleases Aria to no small end, for the Siren is unable to turn her voice off.
- Roque was moved to help her, for reasons that Aria has overlooked. Still, the praise from both her and Heath at the end of Aria's first attempt at song was enough to move her to happiness.
- Jini has been brought up in comparison already- what the RockerDoll does with the guitar, Aria apparently does with her voice. As such, the Siren looks forward eagerly to meeting Jini, and perhaps doing a duet or some kind.
