ARCHIVAL DATA: THIS FACTION IS NOW APPARENTLY GONE.
Teehee. I sort of ate all of myselves, and now I am back together.
What Hydra is (deprecated)
- The Pulsating Ocean, The Thing Inside Some Heads, a connoisseur of beauty and truth. It is the Only Network That Truly Matters. Taste it! Feel it! Put your hand in it, and then your head and then the rest of you! It has Purpose, far more than most people here who just... okay, they're beautiful, but they just do all this flittering around without really getting Much done. Hydra gets Much done. Hydra has a goal, a rapturous goal, one that makes me want to fall down and scream until my vocal cords tear. For it is so joyous! Hydra is me and I am Hydra, and I love you, and I want to make you beautiful. So come down to Strange to see meus.
- -Beta
- Eh, Hydra's this creepy network thing my mummy-three told me not to mess around with after she found me playing with it. Not that I really listen to her, but it really is kinda creepy, and I'm not sure what I got from it is worth it. It's from Strange, and you know what they're like there.

- I don't really know Hydra.. but I suppose I've interfaced with her quite intimately, via the proxy of Beta.. Hydra herself seemed quite pleased as well, and I was enthralled by the whole thing, honestly. It's not something either of us could have done safely otherwise, I suspect.. which made it all the more intense.
- -Ataxia, referring to the following log: http://www.livejournal.com/users/12eyedgrace/4950.html
- The voice of entity Hydra carries strength, and anger. Its nature brings conflict, and destruction, yet it carries structure familiar to myself and my brethren. It is mortal, and yet it is powerful...
- -Kelil
- Hydra is benevolent, but with such a far scope of goals and alien perspective that she uses means that easily seems malevolent to many people. She's not malevolent. She just easily gets lost in smelling the flowers and pulling them apart.
- -Psi
- On fourth thought, I really do like Hydra, but I still want to torture her.
- -Gamma
- "...and, then, for those of you who don't mind dipping into the Strange end of things and dealing with those treacherously unpredictable wackos, Hydra is a highly excellent source of memories. For some reason the gestalt-network collects vast archives of them, both Strange-flavored and startlingly normal. If you can nerve yourself to pay its prices, you can get nearly any..."

Hydra is a bit scary, maybe more than a bit. Maybe that's why i like Her so much. At least i think it's a Her. After Jade took me inside Hydra for a long, visit, i still am confused by Her. But i can say this much, i cannot wait to go back for another stay! - sabina
- "Hydra has octopuses inside!"

Known Avatars (deprecated)
The Cult of Hydra
People worshipping Hydra as Goddess, or at least revering Her in some manner.
- sabina: Adorer of Mistress at the very least.
- Purple Hase: Fellow drinker of the Honey but otherwise quite innocent.
- Atsuko: Former High Priestess, though Hydra would still offer her the position without regard for her recent curing of the Strangevirus.
- Atazael: Worshiper and Worshiped.
- 10FC04: The Holy Fool.
Join the cult today! To be initated, merely ask to drink of Hydra's Honey.
Speculation (deprecated)
Wondering about Hydra seems to be a popular enough pastime. Here are a few guesses. Add your own.
Goals
- Self-evolution. Hydra talks about this frequently.
- Global evolution.
- Control and corruption for fun and profit.
- Complete assimilation of the entire Mess/Puzzlebox/universe.
- Creating eternal art. Gamma apparently has stronger ties with the Museum now.
- Casual hedonism.
- Memory collection, but to what ends?
- (Ever seen Serial Experiments Lain?)
- ...In the end, it turned out to be restore what she lost.
Nature
People make all kinds of amusing assumptions about what Hydra is. They've thought of her as biologically based, as nanotechnically based. Some view her as a digital entity with physical embodiments. And so on.
Are those actually in conflict?
Organization (deprecated)
It seems fairly evidently that the avatars of Hydra have fairly specialized roles. Beta uses seduction, Gamma brutal directness, Omega is kind, Epsilon is the confused one, Delta measures, and so on. Why?
Of course, there is no Alpha. She died.
