.: description :.

Mera, in her emerging form, appears to be mostly dress...a fantastical garment of Victorian influence with a snug bodice of silk brocade and layered skirts of watered silk, draped in the front and arranged into a large bustle at the back, strangely reminiscent of the abdomen of an insect. The ensemble is all in dark burgandy with a froth of gray-white spidersilk continually being extruded from the hem, billowing of its own accord regardless of any movement of the skirts, breaking off and wisping away into nothingness. Combined with Mera's smooth movements the effect is that of floating lightly on a cloud of silk.

The collar of the dress fits Mera's long slender neck as snugly as the bodice encloses her modestly feminine form and is also adorned with a lace of spidersilk, though smaller and less lively than the trim of her skirts. A row of tiny moonstone cabachons run from the high neck of the collar down the throat and chest to the base of the bodice. Wound amongst the drape, bustle, and skirts are many strands of moonstone, jet, and gold beads seemingly there to hold the entire arrangement in place. Mera's long thin hands are encased in black velvet and the cuffs of her dress are again trimmed in gray-white spidersilk.

Impassive above this entire Victorian fantasy is a stark white oval mask with smooth flat features. The eyes are not opened though kohl has been painted about each one as if they were. Eyebrows are mere dots of black placed high on the forehead and the mouth painted only with a small oval of red on the full lower lip. A mass of soft curling old copper wire and rustling ginwashi drifts and whorls from the reverse side of the mask in an abstract imitation of hair.
