Despite a lack of specialization, the cells seem to have slight differences, and memory and knowlege is not evenly distributed. Omni has grown to an extent that most of it is not what is seen and called Omni. Instead, the bulk is hidden away, serving as a storage tank of knowlege and memory, trying to understand the realities of the mess as well as slowly spreading to every warp's nook and cranny. |
Omni's home is near-forgotten memory. This is not to say Omni does not want to return to its home-moon. It still remembers the methane geysers and beautiful landscapes, the planet and other moons setting in the sky. |

It still remembers the methane geysers and beautiful landscapes, the planet and other moons setting in the sky. But knowing what it knows, it probably will never return home, and has almost come to accept that. |
Unofficially, the best theory put forth is that Omni was a group of cells accidentally left behind in the laundry. These cells were transported to Puzzlebox, the magical land where socks go when they mysteriously dissapear. |

Omni does communicate, and it has several means: |
* The most common means that Omni uses is called a voice-synth. Omni will 'speak' with the mimickry of the last 6 voices (of its chosing). The result is a chorus chanting words in unison, with a voice here or there recognizable. This is a highly voluntairy act, so volume, pitch, and voice choice is under its control. |

The result is a chorus chanting words in unison, with a voice here or there recognizable. This is a highly voluntairy act, so volume, pitch, and voice choice is under its control. * Its own natural language is light based, using changing colors ranging mostly in the visible light spectrum. The language is encrypted, intentionally so, and serves not only to communicate with buddings, but also keep in contact with the rest of itself and recall from the hidden stores. This communication is called a memory sync, or just sync, and is very characteristic, even if not understandable. |
* An amorphous blob, the standard form it will take when exploring or simply wanting to express itself. * Jini's doppelganger, a dark orange version of the bubble doll, completely devoid the the musical trappings of the origional. Save for resonating, and being the instrument. * Kelly?'s doppelganger, who matches in coloration. Differing details are a lack of suit or jewelry, and some slight changes to the extremities. * A rubber raccoon femme, a vestage from Omni's past. A friendly native from the assignment gave it would could be considered a suit or a costume, for Omni to fill and give the illusion of a bipedal vertebrate underneath the artificial skin. * A collection of various beings, all the results of various discarded costumes from Mod, each filled with about 2kg of Omni. |
Each form is known to Omni as a mindsim, a simulated mind that has its own personality and traits. This is an adaptation to blend in, and the mindsims are only partially autonomous, as memory and knowledge is shared, and the mindsims are aware that they are just characters of the actor that is Omni. * An amorphous blob, the standard form it will take when exploring or simply wanting to express itself. The blob/psychadelic beanbag chair does have personality, but the concept of self-individuality is pointless for it; It is a collection of cells. It will never refer to itself in the third person or with 'I'. * A raccoon femme, a vestage from Omni's past. This mindsim is very scientific, being the mindsim from the aforementioned assignment. She does a sync with her tailtip, when possible. Sometimes she wears a rubber suit/costume, given to it by a native from a previous planet. She uses the suit as a protective covering, where necessary. In those times, an ungloved hand will sync. * Jini's doppelganger, a dark orange version of the bubble doll, completely devoid the the musical trappings of the origional. Save for resonating, and being the instrument. This mindsim has a stronger emotional side, and can fall quite readily for simulated hormones. She also talks with a loose southwest USA accent. Her ears do the syncing. * Kelly?'s doppelganger, who matches in coloration. Differing details are a lack of suit or jewelry, and some slight changes to the extremities. This mindsim is the prankster and the tease, often at System's expense. Like the raccoon mindsim, the tailtip is the sync-point. * A collection of various beings, all the results of various discarded costumes from Mod, each filled with about 2kg of Omni. These mindsims are only partially developed, and are cut off from syncing. |
* Kelly's suit has fused with another colony, during an interesting night involving powerful chemicals and pretzels. The sanity of such a gestalt is still in debate. Recently, the suit has formed a mental link with Kelly, so things will get interesting. |

Recently, the suit has formed a mental link with Kelly, and since then, Kehari has has a personality merging, allowing her to fully understand syncings. |
Buddings have unique personalities and identities independant of Omni, strongly dependent on the state of Omni at the time of budding. They keep in contact, like all cellites are apt to do, by 'memory syncs', where upon revisiting each other, the cellites, using light and pattern, tell each other of their experiences. |

In short, Omni is composed of an organic analog of nanites. For the sake of brevity, its cells have been called cellites. There is no specialization within its cellites, so strange and bizarre concepts like organs, bones, and a central nervous system are still stumbling blocks for it.
There is another memory, however, of travelling to another planet. It is a scientist, and it was sent to study and document the inhabitants there. It took a form similar to the natives there, and began about its duty. This duty has been cut short, however, because Omni is now in the Mess, far away from either the homemoon or the assigned planet. Those two are probably in an entirely different plane of existence.
Unofficially, the best theory put forth is that Omni was a group of cells accidentally left behind in the laundry. These cells were transported to Puzzlebox, the magical land where socks go when they mysteriously dissapear from the wash.
Further thoughts about how Omni works is stored in the OOC theories of gestalt.
