Phoenix
Male-herm anthrodragon, representative of the
Bonobians and a resident of Bottom, owner of the
Orion.
Description
Before you now is Phoenix, a rather anachronistic-looking dragon indeed. Perched on top of his head is a stiff black top hat. It's perched carefully on his fine black mane, brown eyes peeking underneath, pointed ears flicking on either side. One eye sports a black monacle, with traces of silver circuitry lacing it. The monacle is tucked onto his muzzle and linked by diamond chain to his collar. His short, blunt muzzle smiles bears a cheerful grin, showing off pointed teeth and thin, forked tongue.
Below that he wears what is called, should one be familiar with historical dress, a tuxedo. The tux jacket is a bit shorter than tradition. The hem at the back is level over his tail, curving around and upwards on the front, meeting together about two inches higher in front, in a sharp peak. The material of the garment appears to be a smooth, silken fibre-optic weave. The fabric shifts colour constantly in random fractal patterns, wandering the whole spectrum of visible light, even into infrared and ultraviolet. On the back are fine seams that let his expansive, but unobtrusive wings move freely.
Further down, he wears a knee-length loincloth instead of trousers, made of the same brilliant material that matches patterns and colour with the jacket, flowing and shimmering brilliantly. It begins a scant inch or less above his genetalia, which bulge out the thin fabric just a little. The loincloth also creates a short expanse of flesh between the hem of the tuxedo and where it begins, framing the bulge of the dragon's Bonobian 'gland'. The loincloth is held on by a strap of translucent plastic that wraps around his hips and loops once around his tailbase. He wears nothing in the back, his tail all that provides modesty over his smooth rump. His hide looks like, and would feel like soft, fine leather.
Clear crystal sandals sheathe his digitigrade foot-talons up to his backwards-pointing ankles, and the rest of his legs and thighs are bare. Carried at his side is a black crystal walking stick, entirely for effect. The ink-dark obsidian rises to a brilliant, smooth, spherical red gemstone cradled in an ornate, coupling pair of gold dragons, peaked by a tiny, smooth pyramid of black plastic-metal and silver circuit-patterns.
Background
Phoenix was decanted and raised in
Bottom, and has lived there all of his adult life. He was decanted into a group home, a creche of sorts, located in Bottomwarp's 'suburbs'. Away from the transit mirrors, hubbub and rave atmosphere of the central plazas, the creche provided a place for those who wished to pass on their genes and lineage, but had no wish to spend the lengthy time and energy required for parenthood. In this creche, volunteers raised hatchlings and children from all different races instead of their 'natural' parents. As such, there was no real record of Phoenix's genetic donors, male, female or otherwise. If he met them at all after he was hatched, he doesn't recall. Instead, he grew up with eight mothers and six fathers, and a family of over two dozen siblings.
The environment was a warm, educational, eudaimonic one, which promoted developing individual strengths and interests into skills that could be put to productive use. He was taught early on about using the Mess's instantiator systems, and so hardly thinks much of them anymore. At the creche, Phoenix developed an affinity for bioengineering and biotechnology after becoming curious as to why his friend Taran, a mechanically inclined wingless draconid, looked so much like him and yet was so different at the same time. While the biological aspects of reproduction had long been second nature to him, he took it upon himself to investigate the problem of why they were all different, despite having come out of the same decanting process. As a result, some years later, he came out of the creche with an advanced understanding of genetailoring, biotechnology and bioengineering.
After he left the creche, at about age twenty four, having donated some of his time to the creche upbringing himself, he moved into the perpetually booming biotech industry in Bottom, developing drugs, biological toys, and other gadgetry. The mechanical knowledge for this came from his friend Taran, which had gone off into more hard-tech aspects of engineering.
Through his contacts in the biotech industry, Phoenix eventually encountered a devout bunch of hedonists, quite set on taking the more organic way of promoting pleasure. He joined this little group, and offered his services for improving the gland they'd been experimenting with. Phoenix has remained with the Bonobians to this day, and as one of the eldest members, serves as a sort of diplomat and representative for the faction.
So what's he up to now?
Currently, Phoenix is working to rework and evolve the Bonobians, past a purely hedonistic perspective and through into a more evenly balanced, non-traditional faction. He helps out where he can, providing medical services of all kinds, and tries to involve himself as little as possible in hostile conflicts. In the past, he's had several nasty experiences with Besax, and the two are unamicable at best. He despises nonconsensuality, but his desire to please and experience all the pleasures he can leaves him vulnerable sometimes to just that. He does enjoy helping out were he can, however, and gladly obliges most any request for help.
In the past, he's helped...
- Flyte, after his unfortunate encounter with Sosael, resulting in his infection with Strangevirus, and subsequent degradation. He helpd stabilize Flyte after the encounter, and kept him safe and sorted until he could get further help from Twin.
- Roque, on a few occassions. The first, she had a similarly unpleasant experience with Davan, which required some extensive medical treatment. Subsequent to that, Phoenix repaired Roque's inherent mortality and stabilized a developing problem with her newfound psi abilities and her chosen blindness, where the former was taking the residence of the latter. Lately, he's preparing to restore Roque's sight, and disable her in a new, different way, at her request.
- Kehari?, after the different components of her mind began to fragment apart, and talk over one another, leading to blackouts and other embarassments. Flyte did far more than he, for her, but he did lend some support here and there.
- System, contributing some data regarding Besax's inner workings, helping to design and build a weapon with the potential to kill Besax outright.
- Currently, he doesn't get along very well with Besax, and knows enough about Davan not to like him too much at all, though he's never actually met him. Victorians tend to be wary of him, mostly because of his Bonobianism and his dress, and hedonistic manner.
He's looking to explore the mind more, too; physical pleasure is something he's fairly well versed in, but beyond simple sex (as far as simple sex goes in Bottom), he has little experience in trancedental forms of sexuality, mindfucks, and so on.
He's also shy.

- Right! He's very shy. Oh, he's the epitome of reservation. NOT. -Frostbyte
- "Oh! Phoenix is all sorts of neat! He has lots of cyber equipment, and a whole world of things for people like me to play around with, and a huge library, and a space ship, and.." the space hyena rattles off happily. ~ Lysette
