This is a cut-and-paste from my LiveJournal, I'ven't edited or changed anything. While this isn't the "final" death that happened to clockwork, it is one of his several "deaths" ... Another one that, perhaps, I didn't know about until the dream was had. If I remember correctly, Clockwork has died 4-5... maybe 6 times..

I had a dream last night... here's the jist of it... oh, and for the statistics, it was in color, and vividly detailed, think LotR's style detail. I'l convey what I can, where I can, but expect to only get the feel of the story. It might end up being a short.

The dream was such that it started in a small village, almost a comune... I( that is the character from who's perspective I was watching the scene's unfold) was a man of indertiminable age, I believe handsome, and well respected in the community from the start of 'arriving' there. The community produced two main things as trade, asside from subsitence farming. Those things were fine candies, and puppets. The character was a candy maker of exceptional renown. I knew right off that something wasn't right with the character, he saw things too clearly, had insight into things too finely, and was respected as if supernaturally. For seemingly no reason, that is. I realized that the character was a dragon, but at the same time I also understood he was the last of his kind, the others were dead.

Being a peaceful dragon, he continued to make candy, and bring wealth to the small village(the village was in the mountains, I want to say the swiss alps, but the villagers al looked oriental, save my character, who's 'human' face I never saw). One day, a girl came to the village, who despite being only in her middle teens, had white hair, that was just hinted at with blue, and bright red eyes. Her skin was pale, but also rosy, and she wore a kimono of white, trimmed with black, and lined with red and tan fur. It wasn't silk, maybe cotton. She was extrodinarily beautiful, but there was a look about her, much like I knew there was a look about my own character. I knew she was a dragon... no, not a dragon, but one with the blood of dragons in her, one that could revive the line. Thusly, began a long serries of trying to presuade the girl, as she grew into adult hood, to take my character as a mate, even going so far as to say to her that he was a dragon.

It came about, after what felt like 10 years of persuit, that she said that she would be my character's mate, only if he showed her and everyone his true form, and let him be honest with everyone for ever after... so, having called a town gathering(and having the respect to call the eldest and youngest, and all in the middle to said gathering), he showed his true from. From the crowd, the girl's brother lept out, and thrust his spear into the dragon's chest, greviously wounding him. The dragon fled to a cave on the mountain side to bid his time, heal, or die.

Having left a trail of blood behind him though, the girl came to his cave to make sure he died, and to steal his hoard. When she got there she found him lain out on the worn cave floor, slowly bleeding out his life blood, crying tears of frustration and loss. The dragon, having had time to check himself, realized that he would die in but a few days, the wound having nicked his heart, leaving a gash that would slowly bleed out. The girl, seeing him such distress, was moved to tears herself, and went to him to try to console him.

There, he asked why she had betrayed him, when all he had ever wanted was love, and to continue his line. The girl responded that she had been taught that all dragons were evil, but none of the village had believed her when she had told the truth about him, for he was well respected. More so, her brother had said that if he was a dragon, then he would have a hoard of gold and riches, and could make the village more rich then ever, and so had lain in a plot to kill the dragon. Only now, it was plain to see that there were no riches, no hoard to dole out for the valiant work... not even the dragon's golden hide would remain once he was dead.

For three days, the girl stayed with him as he bleed out, doing all she could to stop the fatal flow of his wound, but to know avail. Finally, the dragon's body died, and having turned to dust, the girl returned to the village to find that her brother was gathering a party of young men to hunt down the cave and take away the hoard. When the girl explained that there was no hoard, and that the dragon was dead, the brother went into a rage and raced to the cave to see that indeed, it was empty, save but the dust left behind. The brother was further angered, imagining his sister helping the dragon move his hoard, and escape to another town, and went back to the village to torture the truth from her. Finally, having not gotten the answers he had wanted, he slew her, despite his father's urging to let her go.

Later, the village having become a poor place, people moving away, only the foolish and the old left behind, did they realize that the riches of the dragon was not gold hoarded, but rather the comunity's wealth, health, and protection.

I awoke this morning crying from the story... It was very lucid, though not... rather like a well described story in a book, very clear in detail, like a movie, but more detailed then a movie ever could mannage. In telling this dream to several friends, irl... I've decided that the name of this story shall be "The Dragon's Hoard"
