They came, then, an army of spritely-painted faces and swirling gowns, carrying palettes and easels, brushes and inks, paints and crayons. They charged onto the battlefields, laughing and shouting, crying and singing, turning what had been a warzone into a playpen. Their enemies stood, dumbstruck, guns and swords hanging unused from shocked arms as their tanks and shields were covered in pictures of flowers and rainbows and dolls and suns. Numbed into stillness by the garish displays, they became targets themselves, their armor and helmets new canvasses for the parade of jesters to cover. Then, as quick as they came, they vanished, disappearing into a thousand shadows, leaving only the bright pictures and the echoes of their songs as proof of their passing.
Setup
- Dedicate yourself to the principles of happiness, laughter and whimsy
- Do whatever it takes to see those principles implemented across the Mess.
How to Play
- Being a member of the Fey Brigade is not a turn-based game. Everyone plays all the time, whenever they want!
- When you decide it's your turn, think of something fun that you think everyone would enjoy, and share it with everyone else. Never hurt anyone, but be ready to deal with people that don't want others sharing with them.
- Always bring enough for everyone, whatever it is!
- Always be nice to people, even people who aren't nice to you. Remember: if you're not happy, you can't help other people be happy!
Winning
- When everyone is happy, everyone wins!
Strategy
- Making people happy, especially people that don't want to be happy, can be a dangerous proposition. Always be prepared!
- Never be ashamed to ask your fellow Fey Brigade members, or a Bubble Doll for help if you need it!
- If another member of the Fey Brigade is currently taking a turn, why not help out? Every game is more fun when played together!
- Here are some turns that other Fey Brigade members have already taken:
- Raiding the Mind Electric and building a sunny beach in the middle of a depressing braincandy bar
Suggested House Rules
- The Fey Brigade use the Bubble Dolls as willing spies, looking for appropriate targets to prank
- The Fey Brigade have contacts within the Neo-Boreals because of the common childlike innocence with which they view the world.
- The Fey Brigade fear the Hemotopians the way Peter Pan fears growing up: the inevitable death of innocence and wonder.
