This is changing almost constantly with each revision of acquired or inserted traits. Sometimes male, sometimes female, sometimes of unknown genders, the one constant is that outwardly, Altis' features seem artificial, even as they grow.

Altis just recently hatched from an egg in Upwarp, in a room that was utterly blank and devoid of other habitation. Nothing left to do, Altis just sort of walked off, eventually finding a comfortable place in Upwarp, Epsilon Sector.

Altis seems to have the ability to receive or inject traits into self or others to cause physical, emotional, spiritual, or sexual change using needles extruded from fingers or other parts. Usually, these changes last about four hours, although prolonged injection or enough significant removal can cause a permanent change. With each sharing or sampling of traits, Altis' body and/or mind tend to change in response, adding new features to hir outward self.

Altis hatched from an egg in Upwarp, in a room that was utterly blank and devoid of other habitation. Little is known about what created the creature, although there is little doubt that some information was directly imprinted within Altis' mind. Some of this has been gradually floating to the surface as others say and do things that trigger retrieval keys.

Major Features

• Needles

Not so much physical manifestations as conceptual constructs, they are the means by which Altis transfers trait information. Since they do not actually pierce, there is no painful sensation, although the surface area of the subject tends to ripple somewhat during transfer. Altis has received traits from many, including (in no particular order): System, Schizzy, Talia, Olivia, shinsei, Ojou, Houm...

• Antennae

Altis grew telescoping metal antennae that can scan others' bodies and minds. Sensory output works both ways, and through this Altis can also project somatic/mental data to others.

• Reconfiguration

When encountering a being that has reached a metaphysical dead-end and needs a complete change, Altis can absorb the entity through the needles and "reconfigure" him/her, in a rebirthing process that recreates the original person as another aenigma. So far a Schizzy and a disconnected Beta have been reborn through this experience.

• MindLab

In response to his experiences with respect to Toy programing and other sorts of personality overlays (and a lack of security with respect to same), Altis founded the MindLab structure in Gamma Sector, Upwarp. MindLab is a self-serve personality workshop, allowing people to safely make temporary or permanent changes to their own personalities, whether for recreation, research, or therapy.
