Polly

This is a stoat, long and slinky, short-legged, cinnamon-brown on top, cream-coloured below. She's larger than a standard stoat, smaller than a humanoid: two or three feet in length, from blunt-muzzled, many-whiskered face, triangular ears, and curious shiny dark-brown eyes at one end, to short, darting, black-tipped tail at the other. At least that's true when she's at rest-- when she's in motion, she can be stretched, squashed, bent, or folded any which way, and exact dimensions are anyone's guess! The glossy sheen of her surface gives the impression of slicked-down fur. Her only obvious indicator of sex is the plastic pink bandana tied snugly around her neck, knot to one side, printed along the bottom edge with her name, "Polly".

Pauly

This is a stoat, long and slinky, short-legged, cinnamon-brown on top, cream-coloured below. He's larger than a standard stoat, smaller than a humanoid: two or three feet in length, from blunt-muzzled, many-whiskered face, triangular ears, and curious shiny dark-brown eyes at one end, to short, darting, black-tipped tail at the other. At least that's true when he's at rest-- when he's in motion, he can be stretched, squashed, bent, or folded any which way, and exact dimensions are anyone's guess! The glossy sheen of his surface gives the impression of slicked-down fur. His only obvious indicator of sex is the plastic blue bandana tied snugly around his neck, knot to one side, printed along the bottom edge with his name, "Pauly".

Background

Once upon a time, a CharmWarper began to design a variant of nanomachine life forms. The intent: a durable elastomeric mass, able to move and shapeshift without trivialities like cellular structure or internal organs, and (more importantly to the designer) having fun, play, and entertainment at the core of its being. After electronic, mechanical, and biological tries failed, the designer turned to oneirotronic development, successfully making a prototype. The prototype immediately assumed the form of a species known for flexibility and playfulness.

Character

Polly/Pauly's goals in life are to have fun, play, and be friendly; to cheer people up; to entertain them; and to work for positivity, cheer, and harmony. In moments of strength, he/she's exuberantly joyful; in moments of weakness, desperately eager to please, gradually becoming more inert the longer she/he's out of his/her element. (The names, by the way, are both short for "polymer".)

Faction

No particular allegiance yet. He/she is definitely a toy, but not a Toy.

HomeWarp

Charm, indubitably.

Preference

Polly/Pauly's goals extend even as far as sexual situations, or anything else really, if the motivations are right to his/her mindset (e.g., for the mutual joy of closeness and togetherness, not merely to get one's rocks off.) She/he can express genitals if the need (as it were) arises, but usually doesn't, finding them of lesser importance to his/her major goals.

TechLevel

Pauly/Polly can change shape, size, colour, and texture in whole or in part; can use the Instantiator, but prefers to form props from her/his substance if they won't be given away (if it's plastic or rubbery, it's probably part of him/her); can't be physically broken by anything short of Herculean strength, and could flow back together anyway. Her/his greatest strength is also his/her greatest weakness: subsisting on ambient affection and general good feelings, running on the power of positive thinking.

(Coalesce has analysed him/her briefly, and described her/him as "care-tech", "emotional technology", and "made of pure personality".)

Friends, Neighbours, and Others

Polly/Pauly loves everyone. Yes. Really. Even the ones whom everyone hates. Unless a character's listed as being feared or hated (which isn't likely to happen any time soon), he/she most likely loves them.
