If you're reading this, welcome to my informal public notes page. Yes, I did sorta crib the idea from Trilogee, it's a worthy enough meme. I'll keep track of various concepts, ideas, or anything else about the character that isn't quite interesting enough to put on his page, on this page. If I reveal any character info here, it's not exactly IC public knowledge.

Kayle was actually inspired by, of all things, [a CPU fan]. I didn't even have much of a background for him at first, but managed to hack out a background and/or plot thanks to some help from a [friend] of mine. Before you ask, yes I am prodding her in the direction of Puzzlebox. Current estimate on an application submission is: the next extended break she gets from school.Soon-ish.

Kayle's certainly evolved from the one-off "generic shiny character" he was. He's got a past, motivation, and even a crush or three. He won't admit to them directly.

Before he came to Puzzlebox, Kayle worked for a streetdoc primarily designing, building, and helping install systems for various clients. He also claims he was the tri-state neuralstim champ for five years running, and so far nobody's argued.

The tech level present on Puzzlebox continually astounds Kayle with it's ease of use and complexity, particularly the cybernetics installed in some of it's residents. Notable examples of his admiration are Kehari?, Lysette, and Slight, all due to the extensive and/or extremely high-level gear they're packing. This is a purely technical form of admiration in the first two cases, the way someone would admire somebody else's computer or car, and the crush in the third case is fine with Slight's player, so nobody go freaking out about it or anything.

Kayle's straight. Really. Just because he thinks Indi, Torque, and Frostbyte are cute doesn't change that. Really, I swear. Okay, I lied. Kayle's straight, but he's also been pondering things like sexuality since he came to Puzzlebox. I've got a personal hurdle to jump before Kayle gets laid, though, so don't expect rapid changes in this department.

Expanding on the "personal hurdle": I am profoundly uncomfortable with typesex. This will take some time for me to get over, but I will get over it.

Kayle seems to be growing rather faster in this department than I expected. Maybe it was the gendershift.

Kayle's apparently a Gridshaman now. He's not quite sure what that means yet, but he doesn't mind. It helped him come to terms with Death, who's actually got a pretty neat (if morbid) sense of humor, and disentangle his personal timeline glitch. Plus he left a neat scorchmark on the ceiling above Downwarp square, which he decided to commemorate with a signpost marker.

Nikolai's Subjectivity Distortion Generator gives Kayle a headache whenever he's near it. This is unrelated to the radar distortion he gets from the Cyclotron Forest, and may or may not become a plot point. Long story short: Kayle's timeline-disentanglement had a side effect of leaving a sort of temporal "this just ain't right" sense behind (which has so far been mistaken for a really bad headache and a lingering Bad Feeling), and a minor temporal immunity; he gets echos of things he was involved in that never happened (see: [this wall-breaking log]).

Somewhat apathetic about Chris, the result of activating the SDG, but starting to like the guy despite himself.

Has written off the entire SDG ordeal as a bad trip.

Thinking of having Kayle come up with an ambulatory, semisentient, alcoholic beverage that enjoys being consumed. The basic idea is "big-titted vixen made out of beer", but customizable. Maybe I'll expand on it once I've gotten some sleep. Prelim writeup is done; need a name though.

Need to pitch this idea to someone appropriate ICly. Maybe shinsei?

Reflections of the future

This section is gonna be for various ideas about where Kayle might end up, or basically the seeds for potential plots, in no particular order. Feel free to add your own ideas here.

• Insane. Temporal sense goes into overdrive and he gets to the point where it's impossible for him to recognise the current "now".
  • SDG plot triggered this, but just temporarily. He's better now.
• Visionary. He learns/manages to control his temporal sense, sees into the future, etc. Would probably appear, to others, as knowing things he shouldn't. Would involve serious OOC knowledge-cribbing.
  • Seems to be developing somewhat on it's own. He's jumping to eerily correct conclusions and I honestly don't know why.
• StrangeHost. He works up his courage and visits Strangewarp, and doesn't notice when a bit of Strangevirus gets on him. Puddles of the virus are silver, his skin is silver, you can probably see where I'm going with this. This has the potential to be interesting, and would probably warrant a gradual but major description and personality overhaul.
  • Blame Trilogee for this one.
    • Remember, it only gets you if you want it to get you...
      • Kayle's curious about everything, even the Virus. Maybe at some level, that could be interpreted as wanting it.
• Reengineered. Kayle visits Up and gets a total system rebuild, going over to electric and abandoning the combustion process entirely.
• Rebuilt. Kayle decides he's had it with the chrome shell, and provides a DNA sample to someone to get his original body back.
  • He's pondering this. He sorta misses taste and smell, but he'd have to redecorate his cube again...
• Tweaked. Genderswap of some kind, in chrome and myomer. It'd be interesting, to say the least.
  • In progress, thanks to Echo and a random-number generator. Kayle's so damned confused now, and I'm laughing my ass off about it. Poor gal. She seems to be enjoying it, though.
• Doubting existance. Old friend shows up, but acts like Kayle's been dead for years. Related to the second paragraph of this page.
