If you're reading this, you might have been wondering where
Trancend came from. The most obvious answer is "somewhere inside my head", but that doesn't explain anything, so I'll happily provide details. Let's start early on, and yes that is an intentional misspelling.
In short: They fell out of my head, smacked me on the ass, and said hi.
[This] is the first draft of the character, more of a proof-of-concept than anything else. At the time, I'd conceived them as bartenders for a cyber-centric joint in a project universe whose website [has been recently returned from the grave]. They were going to have extensive knowledge of alcohol and drink mixing, exceptional multitasking abilities, and...well, very little sexual content. Their main purpose was going to be to serve as an example of what would be possible with access to the right level of cybernetics, as well as comedic relief.
This project, as evidenced by the website dissolving, sorta fell apart and the character laid stagnant in my head for a while. When I found Puzzlebox, they stood at attention and practically begged to get in there. Somehow, while they had lain dormant in my head, they'd evolved.
Beta
At the time, I still didn't know the twins had such an active libido and they were initially written as Downwarp natives. Bartenders, in fact, but I didn't know the first thing about building on a MU* (still don't!) and that fell apart. Cue another incubation period, during which I came up with and submitted
Kayle in my application instead. From a technical standpoint, he was more fleshed-out and had more background than the twins, as well as having Random Temporal Problem #257b. More on that character
here.
This drove the twins up the wall. They sulked, screamed, and beat on the inside of my head for a while, begging and pleading to get into Puzzlebox, but I still didn't have a proper template for them.
Prerelease
I'm not sure which came first, honestly. One night I had this intensely detailed dream, from Trancend's points of view, of them screwing each others' brains out. Around the same time there was a particularly, erm,
entertaining bit of typesex as Kayle, littered with snide remarks and giggling from the twins.
That's when it hit me, like a double-trailer semi truck loaded full of condoms, KY, and sex toys: Kayle wasn't designed to have sex, from both IC and OOC standpoints. The twins, as they had grown fond of reminding me, had no such issues. They demonstrated this nightly, on each other, inside my head.
So I contacted XOR and asked what the proceedure was to get an alt, and so it came to be that the twins were introduced to the Mess.
Patches
The twins have developed over time, especially since their introduction to the other characters on Puzzlebox. When they started out they had no hobbies, no love or lust interests, no enemies, and no friends besides each other. I'll do my best to document changes here. Some of these may be notes from the twins themselves.
- "We really knew we weren't at home anymore when we found that skunk that dispensed icecream from her tits." "Yea. Turns out I like vanilla, and Cend likes chocolate and cinnamon-sugar."
- They've met and introduced themselves properly to Coalesce. He's a friend, fuckbuddy, and co-star.
- Around the same time, they told me they enjoy recording and distributing full-immersion sensory recordings of them having sex. Mostly with each other.
- Something about System's aentropic energy makes them lazy and happy. It has about the same effect as high-test catnip.
- "Trans likes being in my body more than being in his own. Shh, I didn't tell you that." "..Hng, whut...?" "Go back t'sleep, bro."
- Frostbyte is an inspiration to the both of them. They'd really like to have sex with him, but they just can't seem to find the time.
- They've admitted they like Merge. Trans has modified his biofilter to allow said drug free passage, which has caused at least one bit of minor confusion so far.
- They've got a very distinct fear of Strange. Visibly infected Strangehosts make them squirm, and they will not visit the warp itself of their own free will.
- "Oh, we've died a few times." "Yea. There was the time it was from sheer sexual exhaustion, that experiment with orgasm-triggered explosives, at least twice from asphyxia by cable..." "But hey, nobody really dies here, right?"
- Cend likes watching Trans' dreams.
