This is changing almost constantly with each revision of acquired or inserted traits. Sometimes male, sometimes female, sometimes of unknown genders, the one constant is that outwardly, Altis' features seem artificial, even as they grow.

Altis just recently hatched from an egg in Upwarp, in a room that was utterly blank and devoid of other habitation. Nothing left to do, Altis just sort of walked off, eventually finding a comfortable place in Upwarp, Epsilon Sector.

Every conversation, every interaction that changes Altis' perception seems to be reflected in a new or changed physical feature, almost like a communal work in progress by those who make a critical difference in Altis' worldview.

Altis seems to have the ability to receive or inject traits into self or others to cause physical, emotional, spiritual, or sexual change using needles extruded from fingers or other parts. Usually, these changes last about four hours, although prolonged injection or enough significant removal can cause a permanent change.

Background

Altis hatched from an egg in Upwarp, in a room that was utterly blank and devoid of other habitation. Little is known about what created the creature, although there is little doubt that some information was directly imprinted within Altis' mind. Some of this has been gradually floating to the surface as others say and do things that trigger retrieval keys.

Current Developments

• Antennae

Due to a deep conversation with Trilogee and Mel, Altis grew telescoping metal antennae that can scan others' bodies and minds. Sensory output works both ways, and through this Altis can also project somatic/mental data to others.

• Reconfiguration

Having found a dead Beta who seemed in distinct pain with her current configuration, Altis offered to reconfigure the being. Receiving the entirety of her traits, Altis injected her and bore her as a child, eventually hatching the reconfigured Beta, now Zeta, from an egg. Schizzy, having been physically trapped in a binding spacial locus with no hope of escape, opted for reconiguration and rebirth in a new, free body. Ardra? is now free and doing quite well.

• Toy

In response to the concerns of System over (his) love, Ataxia, and out of genuine curiosity, Altis experienced Toy programming at Toymaker Labs for a brief period of time. Despite the brevity, this was apparently a significant enough event to cause Altis to evolve a functional mouth.
