Omni

Physiology:

Omni is, upon close examination, a gestalt of independant ameobic [chromatophore]-containing cells. Intercellular communication is done by electromagnetics, and as such, even in the limiting physics it knows, shape, size, color, texture, and count is set on a whim.

In short, Omni is composed of an organic analog of nanites. For the sake of brevity, its cells have been called cellites. There is no specialization within its cellites, so strange and bizarre concepts like organs, bones, and a central nervous system are still stumbling blocks for it.

Origins:

Omni's home is near-forgotten memory. This is not to say Omni does not want to return to its home-moon. It still remembers the methane geysers and beautiful landscapes, the planet and other moons setting in the sky.

There is another memory, however, of travelling to another planet. It is a scientist, and it was sent to study and document the inhabitants there. It took a form similar to the natives there, and began about its duty. This duty has been cut short, however, because Omni is now in the Mess, far away from either the homemoon or the assigned planet. Those two are probably in an entirely different plane of existence.

Unofficially, the best theory put forth is that Omni was a group of cells accidentally left behind in the laundry. These cells were transported to Puzzlebox, the magical land where socks go when they mysteriously dissapear.

Traits:

Omni does speak, and it has several means:

Further thoughts about how Omni works is stored in the OOC theories of gestalt.

Known forms:

At first thought, a catalog would be rather pointless, as Omni can change shape on a whim. However, there are a few reoccurring forms that are known to Omni's new friends.

Buddings

Omni has already created progeny, using its nature to send colonies of cellites to be with others, including:

Buddings have unique personalities and identities independant of Omni, strongly dependent on the state of Omni at the time of budding. They keep in contact, like all cellites are apt to do, by 'memory syncs', where upon revisiting each other, the cellites, using light and pattern, tell each other of their experiences.
