Description

The entity you're looking at appears, in the simplest of terms, to be a male canid formed from flowing, flexible glass. He stands somewhere in the middle of the six-foot range, perhaps six-five from the tips of his transparent toes to the bases of his equally transparent ears. His form is classically idealized, strongly resembling an ancient Olympian statue recreated as a sculpture in the clearest, most expertly carved ice. Most humanoid sculptures, however, are not nearly so mobile. This one moves effortlessly, though his glassy limbs seem to lose a small amount of definition during rapid changes in position, only to reform fully upon slowing or becoming still. His tail, usually in motion, is smoother than a normal canid's due to its lack of fur, suggesting a liquid snake. The clear canid is lit from within by a simple framework of what appear to be conventional blue light tubes. They are wired together, despite the lack of a visible power source, in a structure approximating a very crude skeletal system. His eyes, twin blue LEDs mounted in black orbs, are wired into the same framework, and make the slightest mechanical whirr when they shift or refocus.

A wrap of reflective silver material shrouds his lower body, starting low on his hips and ending at ankle-length. The wrap hangs open on one side, showing some leg in an almost feminine style.

Physiology

Purely inorganic. Untitled is a robot made up of primitive but robust nanotech-scale components he refers to as nanounits (he disdains the term "nanites" for vague personal reasons). All functionality and computing requirements, from AI to basic physical shape coherence, is distributed dynamically among these units; "massively parallel" would be a good description of his design architecture. This enables him to shake off small to moderate amounts of substance-damage without consequence. Un is also highly, rapidly regenerative. His units are in a perpetual cycle of frequent self-destruction and being rebuilt by their neighbors, effectively freeing his body from the need for maintenance, since most parts of him are regularly made "new" again.

Background

Untitled is from a world he knows as Earth. Yes, another damned Terran immigrant, though whether his home reality is the same "Earth" others claim is unknown, and perhaps unknowable. Regardless, though possessing a great deal of raw information about the place in his database, he has little firsthand experience and few memories of it. This is not due to any kind of amnesia or known mental editing; Untitled was only functional for a few short weeks before inadvertently departing for Puzzlebox. According to scraps of early systems-test logs in his memory, Un was completed at least 103 years ago, but for reasons unknown to him, was never fully activated. Over a century later, he was unearthed from a considerable depth underground, finally brought online, and exhibited as a sort of technological museum piece. Though Un's AI was primitive and capable of only limited abstract thought, this strictly regimented existence disagreed with him, and he fled his exhibitors, somehow finding his way to Puzzlebox and the Mess. He has no idea how this reality-shift happened, but likes to imagine he was "adopted" by his new home, for whatever reasons it may have had. One of Untitled's earliest contacts in the Mess was D. D, being a retrotech enthusiast, was naturally intrigued by the relatively primitive nanotech AI-form, and with Un's consent, used him as a test subject for a portability-oriented AI core she was developing. Un's potential for learning and independent thought were boosted tremendously by this successful experiment, and the two have maintained a quasi-familial relationship ever since.

Relationships

Ataxia: Un and Ataxia took an early interest in each other due to similar aspects of their past: both were (and are) young entities, made to be living works of art by creators they never knew, struggling a little with formative emotional experiences, chasing the simple joys of a world so new to them. Over time, through shared experiences and thoughts, this interest grew into a close friendship...and something more. Only recently, through events surrounding Ataxia's toyhood and Un's vacation, have they come to recognize their love for each other. This makes the statue very, very happy.

Besax: Blistering hate. Besax's past actions toward Charlotte-Sophia and Diafeara, in addition to a worldview almost diametrically opposed to the canibot's, have earned Besax a place as the only entity currently capable of inspiring actual bloodlust in Untitled; the statue cannot even speak his name without synthsnarling. Predictably, Besax's relationship with Diafeara is an uncomfortable subject for Un, who copes by simply blocking it from his mind as much as possible, and avoiding situations that might remind him of it.

Charlotte-Sophia: Untitled's first love, and one of his most important early influences, Charlotte was vital in helping Un through many of his worst "growing pains", the excruciating ethical and emotional crises that dogged his newfound sentience. She was also primarily responsible for his self-acceptance as a living being. Though they don't see each other as often these days, his feelings for her remain strong; Un does have a (usually) well-concealed streak of doubt as to his ability to truly make Charlotte happy, but of course, he tries his best.

D: Un's "big sister", responsible for his current AI core, and arguably a major factor in his initial personality development. They have a close sibling-style friendship: They don't really hang out together, but are affectionate and protective toward each other.

Diafeara: Following an inauspicious, combative beginning, Un and Dia turned a dramatic corner during a period of AI-damaged insanity on the statue's part. Diafeara offered the thoroughly demented Untitled a surprising amount of compassion and comfort, which the bot remembered fondly after the restoration of his AI core. Their ensuing relationship, though an apparent mismatch to many, weathered a turbulent early stretch marked by frequent near-breakups, and evolved into its current state of sturdy, joyfully fierce devotion. Dia and Un are among each other's top sources of emotional support.

Frostbyte: Untitled used to find Frostbyte companionable enough, but, well, a little disturbing. The hedgehog's frank appreciation for lethal combat was especially disconcerting to the statue. Frost has, however, been reassuring and understanding in several recent moments of crisis, and had an important role in Un and Ataxia's realization of their feelings for each other. This has led the canibot to see Frost in a far more appreciative light.

Glal: Glal and Untitled took a liking to each other almost immediately upon meeting, quite early in the canibot's stay in Puzzlebox. Over the course of Un's time in the Mess, the two have grown very close, and the chromy feline has become one of the key figures in the statue's synthetic life. Glal provides a strong calming influence and voice of sanity to the instinctively fretful Un, and adds some reassuring stability to the bot's often-impulsive circle of friends; Un literally can't imagine doing without him.

Induction-Coil: Un finds Indi very sweet, attractive, and endearingly shy around the statue. Un doesn't know the coyote-shaman nearly as well as the individuals listed above, but enjoys his company, and looks forward to getting to know him further.

Jeremy: Jeremy's homesickness and timidity spur Untitled's protective instincts. He enjoys doing what he can to help Jeremy feel secure when they're out in the open, and likes him very well on a personal level. Unfortunately, they rarely see each other since Jeremy's departure for Elysium.

Kehari?: A very dear and thoughtful friend, a wickedly gifted flirt, a comforting presence, and a truly epic lover. Kehari's always been nice to Untitled, but her visits to his Hall, some recently-discovered philosophical agreements, and of course, a powerful mutual attraction, have brought the two of them much closer in recent weeks. She gave Un a plush doll of herself, which has quickly become one of his most treasured possessions.

More coming soon!

Status

Untitled has returned from his "vacation", seemingly much better for the experience. Though still a little shy, he seems to have gotten his fretting under control a bit; though still protective of his friends, he's not as quick to worry, and has developed a certain serenity that wasn't there before.

Comments

Swiped from Diafeara. IC and OOC thoughts welcome.

Untitled somehow manages to be acutely conscious of his own integrity and the means of protecting it, and yet at the same time devoted to all those whom he honors with his friendship in a pure, entirely selfless way. This alone probably tells more than I could about his qualities and why so many love him so much.

-- Laelys

As the song goes, a very merry Unbirthday to you!
-- Echo

"Some_day, love-will-find-you; Break_those chains that bind_you; One_Night will remind_you; How we touched and went our seperate ways;" The Jackal coos, approacing, curling her arms around your shoulders from behind, her eyes half opened as she grins to the cani-bot happily. "Sing with me, Untitled.." she whispers, her nose touching the back of his neck, ears back and up in curved points. The moment shared, even in her altered mindstate, she will always look to as a moment of beautiful shock, from the bot so often distant, but so fully cared for.
-- Ataxia

"Kehari said something to me, not so long ago, that really honored and touched me...she said she liked that I didn't seem to have an agenda, that I just wanted to be happy with what I'm given, to enjoy the world and those I care about. It felt good, to know she saw me that way...because I do try..."
-- Untitled, quoting Kehari?
