Strange things are happening in Strange Warp. Most recently the plot between Tiskel and William coming to a head, ending up in William's conversion back to the Strange Virus. And then is promptly slain: Strange Days-Log

• It seems that William, after being killed in Strange, was indeed backed up - and returned. However, his last backup was the one that System tricked him into. It's quite old (See Frostbyte Finds, above), and while this William is not infected, he also has few memories of the whirlwind life he lead prior to conversion by Tiskel.
